WALK TO EMMAUS
About 20 years ago the Methodists started their own version. Our name is based on the Post-Resurrection Event where two disciples were walking to a village named Emmaus and Jesus joined them and walked along with them. When they reach Emmaus, they invited Him in for a meal and as He broke bread with them, they realized that He was the Resurrected One.
It is actually a symbolic spiritual walk. First time participants are called 'Pilgrims'.
In addition to the pilgrims, there is a Team which meets for months ahead of the Walk, preparing talks and praying together for the spiritual welfare of the pilgrims. During the 75 hours, 15 talks are given, mostly on the subject of "Grace", some talks by lay women and others by clergy persons. There are also beautiful surprises built into the program.
You need a sponsor, someone who has already been to Emmaus .
The men go separately from the women and the Women's Walks always fill up early.
